Written for the soundtrack of Peter Greenaway's 1966 short film "Tree", a homage to the embattled tree growing in concrete outside the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank in London. Later rearranged for Michael Nyman Band as part of his 1981 Five Orchestral Pieces Opus Tree.
