Haruomi Hosono is a very interesting person. He laid down the foundations for the city pop genre, which quite frankly aligns super closely with new way.
I found the inclusion of the vocals very interesting. While I don't think this song is structurally overtly unique, it gives a fascinating vocal style that can be a bit grating on some people. I personally found it interesting.
