Parts 2 and 3 (over four hours) of the WBCN Retrospective Featuring Interviews with Former DJs Sam Kopper, Maxanne Sartori, and Charles Laquidara WBCN and the American Revolution" is a new film documentary that began showing at film festivals this past fall and is now hitting Boston and other MA cities beginning this month. Bill Lichtenstein, the filmmaker, started volunteering on the legendary Boston radio station at age 14, and not long afterwards hosted an overnight shift for a while. The film focuses on the fabled early days of BCN, and that is the concentration of our two part retrospective as well. At least ten jocks from WMBR (called WTBS until 1979) went on to star on what began as a progressive, free-form "underground" FM station. On Part 2 of our retrospective, the interviewees will be Sam Kopper, Maxanne Sartori, and the irrepressible Charles Laquidara. You can also expect some music and tidbits from the golden age of this now defunct (as of 2009) radio treasure known as WBCN, the "Rock of Boston."
