Shiner ran the jazz department at SUNY Potsdam for many years after years working as a NYC studio musician. He was in the reed section with the Sauter Finnegan band for a time (alto, oboe, english horn), played in George Lewis/Gunther Schuller's Orchestra USA, and on many noted recordings of the 50s/60s.
A hybrid documentary play, weaving together three stories: a scripted witnessing of an electrocution; documentary interview. Created for New American Radio in 1990; released on cassette in a very limited and hand made (and hand singed) by MINERVA EDITIONS; now released into the pyretic commons: memories of burns, fires and suburban oblivion; and an imaginary philosopher on the phenomenology of fire, neurobiology and the gaze of ecstatic death.
