"Wyatt is a retired English musician. A founding member of the influential Canterbury scene bands Soft Machine and Matching Mole, he was initially a kit drummer and singer. It was not long after his first solo release -- End of an Ear -- in 1973 that Wyatt fell from an open window during a party, fracturing his back and was permanently paralyzed from the waist down. This led him to abandon band work, explore other instruments, and begin a forty-year solo career. This album consists primarily of tracks released as singles and B-sides during the late 1970s and early 1980s, it only contains one Wyatt composition "

"Edden was born February 1875 at Williams River in Webster County, took up the fiddle at an early age, playing on a fiddle made out of a gourd that his father made for him. His family was known for its musicians, woodsmen, and hunters. His father and 3 brothers all played the fiddle. Although occasionally accompanied by his son, James, Hammons typically played alone. Consequently, he was able to play some tunes in odd time signatures, play certain parts as many times as he found fit, and change the tempo at his will without having to worry about throwing off a band. He was also known for playing several variations of the same melody within a tune, adding a lot of ornamentation, and occasionally tagging on a few extra beats to some parts - wiki"

"The renowned Cuban poet was friends with Langston Hughes. They traveled together to Barcelona by train as the city was being bombed in 1937, running up and down stairs of their hotel during bombing raids. They were both on assignment for different publications, covering what was the emergent war that would engulf the world. Hughes chronicles his experience in his collection of travel essays, _I wonder as I wander_ which I'm reading now. "
