Tis Kaoru Zamler-Carhart, voice; Samn Johnson, composition, electronics, instruments, mixing, mastering. "Consolation" is a song cycle on Latin poetry from Boethius's circa 524 "Consolation of Philosophy", composed by Samn Johnson (he/him) for vocalist Tis Kaoru Zamler-Carhart (they/them). It is intended to be realized as an album, with Tis Kaoru singing multiple vocal parts accompanied by Samn's electronics and instrumental recordings. Boethius wrote the source book in 526 AD while awaiting execution. It is a moving pursuit of meaning and consolation in a world that is often unfair and cruel. The second track ("Huc Omnes Pariter") is from the 2021 EP, whereas "Quisquis Profunda Mente" is yet-to-be-released.
Members of Klangforum Wien: Olivier Vivarès, clarinet & bass clarinet; Sophie Schafleitner, violin; Andreas Lindenbaum, cello; Finnegan Downie Dear, conductor.
