After the breakup of Buffalo Springfield Richie Furay and Jim Messina formed Poco. Poco bassist Randy Meisner was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit in 1969 who auditioned alongside Meisner a year earlier. Meisner became a founding member of the Eagles two years later and was again replaced by Schmit when leaving the Eagles in 1977.
