Gordon Lightfoot died May 1st, at age 84. He has been referred to many times as Canada's greatest songwriter. Robbie Robertson (of the Band) described him as "a national treasure". Bob Dylan called him one of his favorite songwriters and said, "I can't think of any Gordon Lightfoot song I don't like. Every time I hear a song of his, it's like I wish it would last forever.... ".
