Rotary Connection was a psychedelic soul band formed in Chicago in 1966. "The Weight" is a song by the Canadian-American group the Band that they released as a single in 1968.
The Violinaires were formed in 1952 in Detroit as a gospel group. A young Wilson Pickett joined the Violinaires for a brief period in the mid-1950s. Robert Blair was the Violinaires’ lead singer from the early 1960s until his death in 2001 at age 70. Their mix of gospel, R&B and soul included protest songs and inspirational lyrics.
Featuring background vocals by Mick Jagger, this dub version was a bonus track on the 2002 EMI remaster. The song was an adaptation of "Don't Look Back," a 1965 song by The Temptations written by Smokey Robinson and Ronald White.

Winston Rodney OD, better known by the stage name Burning Spear, is a Jamaican roots reggae singer, musician and songwriter. Like Marcus Garvey, he was born in the town of Saint Ann's Bay. Christopher Columbus also lived there from 1503-1504.
